Important Pro-face Product Life Cycle Announcement
Earlier this year we had indicated that several older products from the PanelStation product line will be discontinued in the June 2006 time frame. We have listed the part numbers that will be discontinued next month or possibly earlier. If you would like to know what other PanelStation products will be discontinued this year, download the Pro-face PanelStation product life cycle and migration document from the Xycom web site.

Xycom and Cognex Launch a Co-Marketing Effort to Supply a Cognex Authorized IPC for their In-Sight Explorer Solutions
 Xycom now supplies Cognex authorized distributors a 15" touch only industrial PC with In-Sight Explorer preloaded and properly configured for use with Cognex vision systems. This new offering has been authorized and tested by Cognex to assure compatibility with all their In-Sight Vision systems. The unit is the very popular 4115T and here are some of the key features:

5019T Flat Panel Monitor Enhancements
The 5019T now includes both Serial and USB touchscreen connections. The choice of "-SER" or "-USB" will no longer need to be made.
In effort to simplify ordering and reduce configurations both interfaces are now included, as on the 5015T/R2 monitor. Also included in this change is a new video controller that only includes DVI and VGA inputs. S-Video and Composite video are no longer available on the 5019T. The new 5019T ships standard with a 10 foot Serial and USB touchscreen interface cables. It also ships standard with a 10 foot VGA video interface cable. If a DVI connection is desired this cable needs to be ordered separately. Due to increased demand of the 5019T these changes need to be initiated much sooner than the original mid-year plans. Xycom IPC and Flat Panel RoHS Update
Xycom has plans to meet the new European RoHS directive on several of our products. This new directive goes into effect on July 1, 2006. Some of our products will comply while others will not.
Xycom is making every effort to address the new European RoHS directive that goes into effect on July 1, 2006. In order to meet this directive every circuit board contained in our units as well as sheet metal and other components will need to be changed. In order to meet this directive Xycom needs to prohibit or restrain the use of six hazardous substances (i.e. lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB, polybromated diphenyl (PBDE)) from our products. The following list shows the anticipated compliance date for Xycom products that are planned to comply with this directive:
- 4612, 4615, 4715, 1546, 1547 - Early Q4 or sooner, products may not be compliant at launch
- 5015T/R2, 5017T, 5019T - late Q3
- 1510 - mid Q3
The following products are not planned to comply with this directive:
- All 3600, 3700, 1506, and 1507 units
- All 3300 and 1401 units
- All 1600 units
- 5012KPM and 5015KPM units
- 3112T
- 4115T (current version) - New RoHS compliant version anticipated early next year
- All 1300-CLIENT units
Xycom is also working on several new products to be introduced later this year. We will make every effort that these new products will be RoHS compliant.
Xycom 4115T vs. VersaView™ Industrial PC
 Xycom has made several enhancements in the design of the 4115T over that of the A-B® VersaView 1500. Recent events at Rockwell® attempt to address this issue but still leave several issues unanswered. Read on to find out why Xycom still offers you the superior product at a better price.
Xycom has spent considerable time and resources to alleviate a heat problem that was present in our 4115T. We delayed the launch of this product a year past when the Rockwell version was available because we were not satisfactorily convinced of the performance of this unit at the upper operating temperature specification. Recently A-B has initiated a hard drive recall that does not fix the problem but rather masks the problem. Xycom spent significant time reducing the internal temperature of the 4115T to lower the hard drive temperature, video controller circuitry, and several other components. This effort resulted in a different drive mounting method, added venting around the display and video controller portion, internal changes to route air flow more effectively, and a second system fan. A-B is currently stating that the hard drive did not perform up to specification and is replacing the current hard drive with a higher temperature hard drive. However this new hard drive has a significant lower power on hours and by just changing the hard drive they are not addressing any of the other issues that their current unit has experienced. Xycom not only offers you a better priced unit, but a more thoroughly tested unit that truly meets the specifications stated.
