Xycom Automation launches 1547 high-performance,
low-power, heavy-duty industrial “node” PC
SALINE, Mich. – Dec. 19, 2006 –Xycom Automation announces the arrival of the 1547 heavy-duty industrial “node” PC. The 1547 PC features the same high-performance, low-power Intel® M mobile processor used in many popular commercial laptop computers, but without an integrated display. Despite this boost in processing power over that of most industrial PCs, the 1547 computer uses only about half the wattage. Because the markedly reduced power usage of the M processor also results in less heat output, 1547 PCs are ideal for most factory automation applications requiring NEMA sealed enclosures but no integrated display. Lower heat output makes controlling the enclosure’s internal operational temperature much easier and often eliminates the need for expensive cooling devices.
The 1547 unit ships standard with a 1.3GHz Intel® Celeron® M processor (512K cache, 400MHz bus); 512MB DRAM, CD-ROM and Windows®XP. Upgrades are available, and Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 (multi-language) may be preloaded and configured to make setup a breeze.
Many enhancements have been made to the 1547 that are not available in the popular 3700 Series line. Up to two easily removable, cable-free serial ATA hard drives may be added (RAID-1 option is also available). Other enhancements include: an additional 10/100/1000 base-T Ethernet port, four USB 2.0-compliant ports, a Type I/II CompactFlash® socket, an extra RS-232/422/485 selectable serial port, and four PCI expansion slots. The 1547 carries the European CE mark, as well as UL and cUL agency approvals. Approved for Class I & Class II, Division 2 Hazardous Locations, 1547 PCs can operate in 0°C to 50°C environments without additional cooling.
