Xycom Automation Announces the Launch of the New 4117T
High Performance, Low Power 17" Light-Duty Industrial PCs

Saline, MI -
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saline, MI - October 19, 2006 - Xycom Automation announces the launch of the latest addition to their family of Light-Duty Industrial PCs. This new 4117T offers better processing power while using less wattage of many current industrial PCs. The 4117T utilizes an Intel® Pentium M processor, used in many commercially available laptop computers. The significantly decreased power usage of the Pentium M processor when compared to a commercial desktop Pentium 4 type processor is ideal for most factory automation applications requiring a NEMA sealed enclosure. Less power usage makes controlling the operational temperature inside the enclosure much easier to maintain, possibly without incorporating expensive cooling devices.
The 4117T ships standard with a 17.0" TFT color LCD flat panel that can display SXGA (1280 x 1024) resolution, a 1.4 GHz Intel® Pentium M (2 M Cache, 400 MHz bus) processor, 512 MB DRAM, CD-R/W with DVD read capability, and Windows® XP. There are DRAM options up to 2 GB and the CD-R/W can be upgraded to a DVD-R/W drive.
In addition to the lower power processor this new generation contains several other enhanced features. Included in this extensive list are an 80 GB hard drive, a 10/100 and 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet port, three RS-232 ports, two USB 2.0 compliant ports, Type I/II CompactFlash socket, and an external video port that can display simultaneous video on an external monitor. If more interfaces are required the half-length PCI expansion slots can be easily utilized to add additional functionality.
"The 4117T addresses the growing demand for thin compact industrial PCs and NEMA sealed enclosures. The heat generated by a Pentium 4 based Industrial PC is not conducive for these types of applications; the temperature rise inside the enclosure causes excessive operational temperatures and thus reduced reliability. By utilizing a low power Pentium M processor these applications can again be considered feasible", states Ralph Damato, Business Unit Manager for Industrial PC and Flat Panel products for Xycom. "This newest offering is further evidence of how Xycom is addressing the factory automation marketplace and continues to be the market leader in NEMA mounted industrial PCs" continues Damato.
The 4117T carries the European CE mark and includes UL and cUL agency approvals. It is also meets the new European RoHS requirements. It can operate in 0°C to 50°C environments without additional cooling, and can be purchased with Windows® XP Professional or Windows® 2000 (multi-language) preloaded and configured to make setup a breeze.
